Privacy policy
This notice is provided under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and describes how LKS Foundation processes personal data collected through this website.
2.1 Data controller
The data controller is LKS Foundation, at the address given in section 1. Requests concerning personal data can be sent to the contact address in the same section.
2.2 What data is processed
| Category | Purpose | Legal basis | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact form data — first name, last name, email address, enquiry type, message content | Replying to your enquiry and any follow-up correspondence | Art. 6(1)(b) — steps prior to entering a contract, or Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest in responding to enquiries | 24 months from the last exchange, unless a contractual relationship begins |
| Operator registration — contact details voluntarily provided by masternode operators | Network census, migration support, technical coordination | Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest in operating and coordinating the network | For the duration of the coordination activity, then anonymised |
| Server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent, referrer | Delivering the site, security and abuse detection, diagnostics | Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest in the security and availability of the service | [to be aligned with the hosting provider's configuration, typically 7–30 days] |
2.3 What is deliberately not processed
No personal data is written to the blockchain
The services described on this site record cryptographic proofs — hashes, timestamps, identifiers and minimal metadata — never document content or personal data. This is a design decision, not a policy preference: a public distributed ledger is structurally incompatible with the right to erasure under Article 17 GDPR, because published records cannot be deleted. Attestations can be logically revoked, but the historical proof remains. Do not submit personal or confidential content for notarisation in raw form; submit its hash.
2.4 Recipients and processors
Personal data may be processed on the Foundation's behalf by service providers acting as data processors under Article 28 GDPR — in particular the hosting provider and, where used, the email delivery provider. A current list of processors is available on request.
[List the hosting provider, email provider and any form-handling service, with the country in which data is stored.]
2.5 Transfers outside the EEA
Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer takes place on the basis of an adequacy decision or of Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission. See section 3.3 regarding the web font provider, which is the most likely source of such a transfer on this site.
2.6 Your rights
Under Articles 15 to 22 GDPR you have the right to request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
Requests are addressed to the contact in section 1 and answered within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or with the supervisory authority of your habitual residence.
2.7 Nature of the provision
Providing the data requested in the contact form is voluntary, but without it we cannot reply. No automated decision-making or profiling is carried out.
Cookie policy
This site is deliberately built without analytics, advertising or social tracking. That keeps this section short — and keeps it honest.
3.1 Cookies set by this site
None for tracking purposes. The site is a set of static pages with no user accounts, no analytics tag, no advertising pixel and no social media widget. No profiling cookie is set, and therefore no consent banner is required for the site as delivered.
If a cookie is introduced in future — for example a session cookie for a verification portal, or a preference cookie — this section is updated before that change goes live, and a consent mechanism is added where the law requires one.
3.2 Technical cookies that may appear
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| No cookies are currently set. Any strictly necessary cookie introduced by the hosting provider (for example a load-balancing or anti-abuse cookie) will be listed here with its purpose and duration. | |||
3.3 Third-party resources and your IP address
Web fonts
The site currently loads the Titillium Web typeface from Google Fonts. This is not a cookie, but it does mean your browser makes a request to a Google server, which necessarily discloses your IP address to that provider. Italian and German supervisory practice treats this as a data transfer requiring a legal basis.
Planned remedy: self-hosting the font files, which removes the third-party request entirely. Until that change is deployed, this disclosure stands. See the deployment notes in the site repository.
No other external resource is loaded: no CDN scripts, no embedded videos, no maps, no social buttons.
3.4 Managing cookies in your browser
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies from its settings. Blocking cookies does not affect your ability to read this site.
Terms of use
4.1 Scope
These terms govern access to and use of this website. They do not govern the supply of any service: services are supplied under a separate written contract agreed with the client.
4.2 Accuracy and availability
The content published here is provided in good faith and kept current to the best of the Foundation's ability, but no warranty is given that it is complete, accurate or free of error. The site is provided on an "as available" basis; access may be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons outside the Foundation's control.
4.3 External links
Links to third-party sites, including the block explorer, are provided for convenience. The Foundation does not control those resources and accepts no responsibility for their content or availability.
4.4 Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Italian law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [competent venue to be specified], without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules that apply to a user acting outside their trade or profession.
Nature of the services described
5.1 Development status
Several services described on this site are under development or stated as strategic direction. Those descriptions represent planned functionality and current intent — they are not statements about features available today, and they may change as technical validation, testnet results and legal review progress. The roadmap distinguishes explicitly between what is funded and committed and what is not.
5.2 Legal effect of ledger notarisation
Storing an electronic document by means of distributed ledger technologies currently constitutes computer-based evidence, freely assessed by a court. It is not equivalent to a qualified electronic time stamp under Article 41 of Regulation (EU) 910/2014, because the implementing technical standards contemplated by Italian Decree-Law 135/2018 (converted by Law 12/2019), Article 8-ter(4), have not been adopted to date.
Where legal certainty of date is required, the Foundation recommends a hybrid configuration combining a qualified trust service provider with ledger anchoring. Full explanation on the Notary page.
5.3 Notarisation is not an electronic signature
The two are distinct legal instruments. A notarisation proves that a given content existed in a given state at a given time; it does not attribute a signatory's legal intent to that content.
5.4 Network figures
Figures relating to the size of the masternode network are inherited from the network's historical state and are being validated through the operator census. They are published with that qualification and will be replaced by measured data.
Intellectual property
The LKSCOIN and LKS Foundation names, logos and marks belong to LKS Foundation and may not be used without written authorisation.
Site texts, layout and graphic elements are the property of the Foundation, save where otherwise indicated. Photographic and illustrative material used on this site is licensed to the Foundation or used with permission of the rights holder.
Software published by the Foundation is released under the licence stated in the corresponding repository, which prevails over this section for that software.
[Record the licence or source of each photographic asset used in the hero sections before publication, and add attributions here if any licence requires them.]
No advice, no offer
Nothing on this site constitutes financial, investment, tax or legal advice, nor a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset.
Nothing on this site is an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to purchase, any asset, security or financial instrument. No public offering is being made through this website.
Regulatory references are informational. Citations of European and Italian legislation are provided to explain the Foundation's positioning and do not replace a legal opinion on your own circumstances.
Digital assets carry risk, including the risk of total loss of value. Any decision concerning them is yours alone and should be taken with independent professional advice.
Changes and contact
This page may be updated to reflect changes in the site, in the services or in applicable law. The date at the top records the last substantive revision. Material changes to the privacy or cookie sections are announced on the site.
Questions about this page, or requests concerning your personal data, can be sent through the contact form or to the addresses in section 1.
